Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Cochin – Transfer to Munnar (130 km / 4–5 hrs)
Your Kerala journey begins with arrival at Cochin International Airport or Ernakulam Railway Station, where you’ll be received and driven to the misty hill station of Munnar. The scenic route is dotted with waterfalls, rubber plantations, and spice estates. En route, stop at Cheeyappara and Valara Waterfalls for quick photo breaks. As you ascend the hills, feel the cool air and admire the tea gardens stretching into the horizon. Upon arrival in Munnar, check in to your hotel and relax. If time permits, enjoy a short evening walk through local markets. Overnight stay in Munnar.
Day 2: Munnar Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, set out to explore the natural beauty of Munnar, often called the “Kashmir of South India.” Begin with a visit to the Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr (entry subject to availability). Then, head to the Tea Museum to learn about the region’s colonial-era tea history. Continue to Mattupetty Dam, where you can enjoy paddle boating with views of the mountains, followed by a visit to Echo Point and Kundala Lake. Optional stops include Blossom Park, Photo Point, and Top Station if time allows. Return to your hotel in the evening for a peaceful overnight stay.
Day 3: Munnar to Thekkady (95 km / 3–4 hrs)
After breakfast, check out and proceed to Thekkady, a region known for its wildlife sanctuary and spice plantations. The scenic drive takes you through winding roads lined with tea and spice gardens. Once in Thekkady, check in to your hotel or resort. Later, visit the famous Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary — you can take a boat cruise on Periyar Lake to spot elephants, deer, wild boars, and various bird species in their natural habitat. You can also enjoy an optional spice plantation tour, elephant ride, or Kathakali & Kalaripayattu cultural show in the evening. Overnight stay in Thekkady.
Day 4: Thekkady to Alleppey (135 km / 4 hrs) – Houseboat Stay
After breakfast, leave the hills behind and head toward the backwater paradise of Alleppey (Alappuzha). Upon arrival, check in to a traditional houseboat, which will take you on a serene cruise through the beautiful canals and lagoons of Kerala’s backwaters. As you float past coconut palms, paddy fields, and small villages, enjoy freshly prepared Kerala cuisine served on board. This experience offers unmatched tranquility and a peek into rural life. Watch the sunset from the deck and fall asleep to the gentle rhythm of water. Overnight stay in a houseboat.
Day 5: Alleppey to Cochin (60 km / 1.5 hrs) – Cochin Sightseeing
After breakfast on the houseboat, disembark and drive to Cochin (Kochi) for your final day. Explore this city rich in colonial history and cultural charm. Visit the Fort Kochi area, known for the Chinese Fishing Nets, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica, and the colorful streets of Jew Town. Explore the Dutch Palace (Mattancherry Palace) and the Paradesi Synagogue. In the evening, stroll along Marine Drive or enjoy some shopping at Lulu Mall or the local spice market. Check in to your hotel and relax. Overnight stay in Cochin.
Day 6: Departure from Cochin
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and proceed to Cochin Airport or Ernakulam Railway Station for your onward journey, carrying with you the memories of Kerala’s misty hills, vibrant culture, wildlife adventures, and peaceful backwaters.
